Whether you’re shopping for someone who has everything or looking for a last-minute stocking stuffer, a power2give.org gift card is the perfect gift for anyone on your holiday list.
It’s a great way to introduce loved ones, coworkers or clients to the difference power2give.org makes in the cultural community.
“It allows the recipient to identify the project that they’re most passionate about and direct the funding to that activity,” said Laura Belcher, Senior Vice President and National Director of power2give.org.
The Arts & Science Council (ASC) launched power2give.org in August 2011. Donors to the site have since raised $1.09 million to fund 117 projects in Charlotte and $3.64 million to fund 1,643 projects in 18 cities nationwide. More than 45-percent of those who donate to projects posted on power2give.org are new donors to the cultural sector.
The website allows anyone to easily give a gift to support specific projects posted by local cultural nonprofits. That direct giving aspect is especially appealing during the holiday season.
Last season, a son gave his mother a $500 gift card to help her become active in the cultural community. Instead of sending fruit baskets or fruitcakes, a businessman gave his clients gift cards so that they could, in turn, give a gift to the organizations they care about.
This year, your friends and family can “Send a Chorister ‘Across the Pond’’ by using their power2give.org gift card to support The Choir School at St. Peter’s project to send its high school choir to the great cathedrals of England for an educational performance tour.
They can “Be A Producer” by helping fund the Carolinas Actors Studio Theatre (CAST) production of “Angels In America,” the first Charlotte-based theater production of the Pulitzer Prize winner and two-time Tony Award-winning play in nearly two decades.
Or they can choose to support one of the one of the many other projects on power2give.org. It’s their choice.
“That’s what makes it personal,” Belcher said. “Donors can be engaged in the project that they care about the most.”
power2give.org gift cards can be purchased from the site and emailed or mailed directly to the recipient.
