Finding Home Again Photography Course presented by Photosynthesis Inc.

Join us for  special free photography course focused on the experiences of Montagnard first generation immigrants that is open to the public. Learn new photography skills that you can use on any camera: cellphone to professional level camera gear! No experience needed. Join others in your community as we explore ways to use photography to document memories, reflect on the process of immigrating, and/or to share your current experience of being in Charlotte NC. Class is limited to 20 students. To reserve a spot email ginger@psphotoart.com with your name, cell phone number, and what camera you will be bringing to class.

 

It’s Not Just Selfies…It’s Photography and More Visual Arts Program presented by Creating Exposure Through the Arts 

This program will teach photography and videography techniques using point & shoot and DSLR cameras. We will also introduce basic writing skills as we produce blog posts and the “Cool Kidz Create”. The skills learned can be applied to school yearbooks, blogging, newsletters, newspapers, magazine, photo shoots, photo contests and photo exhibits. Participants will also learn about the importance of effective social media interaction as a photographer/journalist. We will display images during local community photography workshops. RSVP here.

Spanish Family Pottery Workshops presented by Clayworks

When: September 19, 2019 & March 19, 2020 (5:30 p.m – 7 p.m.)
Where: Scaleybark Library (101 Scaleybark Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209)

In this two-hour long pottery workshop, our ceramic teaching artists will walk you through a clay project from start to finish. These programs are designed to provide an opportunity to explore the material of clay and to learn different hand-building techniques. Projects created during a workshop will be brought back to Clayworks to be fired and glazed before being returned to the workshop location for pickup. Please allow 3 weeks for delivery. Jazzin’ & Bluzin is an hour of live jazz, blues and storytelling by the Dapper Street Jazz Band. Attendees are encouraged to cut a strut, if the music moves ya. You dig? More information here.
