Dance Without Limits Senior Movement Series by Order My Steps

When: Every Monday until March 18, 2020 (10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)
Where: Southview Recreation Center (1720 Vilma St, Charlotte, NC 28208)

Dance Without Limits is a 18-week senior dance program series. We will explore different genres of dance such as hip hop, Bollywood, Motown, and more! This program is specifically designed for seniors and is inclusive to all mobility levels. There are three ways to register. Visual Art and Music Community Experiences by Arts+

When: Various Dates, See Below (2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
Where: Scaleybark Library (101 Scaleybark Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209)

Arts+ invites all community members to participate in a visual art workshop series with a different activity each workshop. Arts+ teaching artists will lead participants through various art projects and techniques. Live music will accompany the art-making experience throughout the workshop. These two-hour workshop experiences are intended for families and appropriate for all ages.

Classes take place on Saturdays, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

African Drum Circle presented by Drums 4 Life

When: October 12, November 9, December 14, 2019 & January 11, February 8, March 14, April 11, May 16, June 13, 2020
Where: West Boulevard Library (2157 West Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28208)

Drums 4 Life presents an exciting African Drum Circle for people of all ages. Participants will learn about the rewards of African drumming and have a hands on experience drumming on different African instruments. Drums are provided for all participants.No prior experience is required.

Finding Home Again Photography Course presented by Photosynthesis Inc. 

When: October 19, 2019 (2 p.m. – 4 p.m.)
Where: West Boulevard Library (2157 West Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28208)

Join us for  special free photography course focused on the experiences of Montagnard first generation immigrants that is open to the public. Learn new photography skills that you can use on any camera: cellphone to professional level camera gear! No experience needed. Join others in your community as we explore ways to use photography to document memories, reflect on the process of immigrating, and/or to share your current experience of being in Charlotte NC. It’s Not Just Selfies…It’s Photography and More Visual Arts Program presented by Creating Exposure Through the Arts 

This program will teach photography and videography techniques using point & shoot and DSLR cameras. We will also introduce basic writing skills as we produce blog posts and the “Cool Kidz Create”. The skills learned can be applied to school yearbooks, blogging, newsletters, newspapers, magazine, photo shoots, photo contests and photo exhibits. Participants will also learn about the importance of effective social media interaction as a photographer/journalist. We will display images during local community photography workshops. RSVP here.

In this two-hour long pottery workshop, our ceramic teaching artists will walk you through a clay project from start to finish. These programs are designed to provide an opportunity to explore the material of clay and to learn different hand-building techniques. Projects created during a workshop will be brought back to Clayworks to be fired and glazed before being returned to the workshop location for pickup. Please allow 3 weeks for delivery.
