Jazz Dance Classes by Charlotte Ballet

When: Every Monday, until June 29, 2020 (7:00 p.m.)
Where: Berewick Recreation Center (5910 Dixie River Rd, Charlotte, NC 28278)

Jazz is a class for all ages, where participants will learn proper dance technique, including isolations of the body, polyrhythmic movement and various poses and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz ranging from Broadway to contemporary to street jazz. No previous dance experience required. It’s Not Just Selfies…It’s Photography and More Visual Arts Program presented by Creating Exposure Through the ArtsĀ 

When: February 15, 22 & 29, 2020 (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.)
Where: Steele Creek Library (13620 Steele Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28273)

This program will teach photography and videography techniques using point & shoot and DSLR cameras. We will also introduce basic writing skills as we produce blog posts and the “Cool Kidz Create”. The skills learned can be applied to school yearbooks, blogging, newsletters, newspapers, magazine, photo shoots, photo contests and photo exhibits. Participants will also learn about the importance of effective social media interaction as a photographer/journalist. We will display images during local community photography workshops. RSVP here.

Dancing the Poem: A Collaborative Movement and Poetry Writing Workshop by Sarah Council Dance Projects

When: Saturday, March 28, 2020 (10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)
Where: Steele Creek Library (13620 Steele Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28273)

Dancing the Poem is a 90 minute collaborative movement and poetry writing workshop for all ages, that will engage participants in an exploration of the poetic form through movement. Directed by dance educator and choreographer, Sarah Council and a guest poet facilitator, participants will experience both poetry and dance as powerful modes of expression that utilize imagery, emotion, and rhythm.

All ages, levels of experience and ability welcome (children under 7 must be accompanied by adult)
