Project Harmony presented by Arts+ & Charlotte Symphony

Is your rising fifth grader interested in learning to play an instrument? Do you live in the West Sugar Creek/University area? Join this youth orchestra program starting this September after school. Learn rhythm, sing in a choir and play your favorite instrument! First day of the program is Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Required Parent Orientation on Friday, September 6 at 5:30 p.m. at University City United Methodist Church.

Dance Without Limits Senior Movement Series by Order My Steps

When: Every Wednesday until March 18, 2020 (10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.)

Dance Without Limits is a 18-week senior dance program series. We will explore different genres of dance such as hip hop, Bollywood, Motown, and more! This program is specifically designed for seniors and is inclusive to all mobility levels. There are three ways to register. Visual Art and Music Community Experiences by Arts+

When: Various Dates, See Below (1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
Where: University City Regional Library (301 E W.T. Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28262)

Arts+ invites all community members to participate in a visual art workshop series at University City Regional Library with a different activity each workshop. Arts+ teaching artists will lead participants through various art projects and techniques. Live music will accompany the art-making experience throughout the workshop. These two-hour workshop experiences are intended for families and appropriate for all ages.

Classes take place on Saturdays, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Learn Life Skills Through Theatre Skills presented by Children’s Theatre of Charlotte

When: Friday, October 4, 2019 through April 3, 2020 (10 a.m. – 11 a.m.)
Where: Mallard Creek Recreation Center (2530 Johnston Oehler Rd, Charlotte, NC 28269)

This program will allow preschool-aged children to gain exposure to life skills through theatre skills by utilizing theatre and art activities. Students will engage in early childhood appropriate theatre activities, theatre games, group storytelling, craft and prop creation, and introduction to public speaking. Children will be engaged through guided activities to improve communication skills, support creative choices, be more confident, have empathy and work in cooperation with others, and to better appreciate the arts. This program will provide arts access for early childhood ages and programming for children not enrolled in a formal preschool program. Recommended for ages 2-5.

Classes take place every Friday, from October 4, 2019 through April 3, 2020 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. There are NO CLASSES from 11/29/19 – 1/3/20 or on 3/27/20 in observance of holidays/school days off.

Preschool Pottery Workshops presented by Clayworks

When: October 8, November 12, December 10, 2019 & January 14, February 11, March 10, April 14, May 12, June 9, 2020 (10 a.m. – 11 a.m.)
Where: Mallard Creek Recreation Center (2530 Johnston Oehler Rd, Charlotte, NC 28269)

This hour long pottery workshop is designed for children of preschool age (3-5 years old). Our ceramic teaching artists will walk them through a clay project from start to finish. These programs are designed to provide an opportunity to explore the material of clay and to learn different hand-building techniques. Projects created during a workshop will be brought back to Clayworks to be fired and glazed before being returned to the workshop location for pickup. Please allow 3 weeks for delivery.
