Matching Grants Support Arts and Education

Make a gift and have the impact doubled thanks to Wells Fargo, The Leon Levine Foundation, Goodrich Foundation and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC).  All of the organizations are making that possible with generous matching grants for various arts, science and history projects and programs in Mecklenburg County through

Wells Fargo announces a Charlotte Symphony match with orchestra students at Winterfield Elementary.

Both Wells Fargo and The Levine Foundation have collectively pledged $250,000 to support projects on Wells Fargo will match up to $100,000 of donations to Charlotte Symphony projects on the site. A gift can provide scholarships to low-income music students and provide access to symphony concerts.

The Levine Foundation will announce today a $150,000 matching grant for education projects that align with North Carolina Core + Essential Standards. The match supports summer camp programs, after school enrichment programs and 2012-2013 in-school programs.

Goodrich is supporting a Discovery Place project on

In addition, Goodrich and BCBSNC have matching opportunities on Goodrich contributed a $10,000 match to support STEM programs like Discovery Place’s robotics program for low-income students. BCBSNC gave a $15,000 challenge grant to support Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation projects. Currently, you can support scholarships for students to attend adventure camp at McDowell Nature Preserve.

Along with individual donations, the matches will collectively contribute $550,000 to Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s cultural sector.
