Position:  Program Manager (Full time)

Reports to: Director of Exhibits & Programs

Salary commensurate with experience


Position Summary      

Reporting to the Director of Exhibits & Programs, the Program Manager is a key member of the Education team providing leadership for the Museum’s year-round, intergenerational and multicultural programming.  S/he is responsible for designing and implementing Levine Museum’s programs, evaluating their success, and ensuring that the Museum is a relevant voice and presence in the Charlotte community.


Essential Functions

  • Designs and implements Museum programs
  • Participates in identifying audiences and setting program goals
  • Develops and nurtures community partnerships and relationships for new and existing programs, and serves as a liaison between partners and the Museum
  • Collaborates with Education colleagues, guest curators, and community stakeholders in program creation, design and implementation
  • Works with colleagues throughout the Museum to plan the logistics, coordination, volunteer recruitment, equipment needs, fund raising and marketing for each program
  • Maintains programming calendar, produces program materials, and tracks and reports program attendance and evaluations
  • Manages program day logistics
  • Represents the Museum at community events and festivals
  • Responsible for oversight and growth of Museum’s Young Professional Council
  • Other duties as assigned



  • A Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in humanities or equivalent experience)
  • Commitment to the Museum’s mission
  • A passion for creating programs that engage diverse audiences of all ages and a deep interest in history
  • Comfort with and aptitude for working with a diversity of people from different cultural backgrounds and life experiences
  • Excellent communications skills and fluency in Spanish is preferred
  • Clear verbal and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience self-managing complex tasks with attention to detail and communication while under time pressure
  • Flexible working hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with willingness to learn other platforms
  • Demonstrated organizational and budgeting experience and/or skills


Other highly desirable skills, experiences and knowledge to be considered include:

Experience with community organizing and/or service, or extensive connections to communities in Charlotte; experience working in a museum or other visitor-serving organization; and experience with educational technology, databases and/or media production.
