This position is responsible for assisting the Education Coordinator and Programs Coordinator with all aspects of education programming and operations. The main responsibility is to successfully lead STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education programs and to assist with program evaluation. The Museum Educator will assist with developing education programs concentrated in STEM programs. The Museum Educator is part of the Education Team and will assist with the creation of educational materials and curriculum for various groups, which may include school groups, adult education, homeschool programs, specialized camps and STEM programs.
-Setting up/breaking down museum programs and activity stations
-Leading museum programs including tours, camps, workshops and STEM stations
-Providing museum floor coverage
-Participating in education tasks forces for program development
-Leading outreach programs
– Assist with program research and benchmarking other institutions’ programs
– Assist with program design/ writing lesson plans
– Conduct and develop program evaluation
– Assist with collections/materials management in the execution of education programs
Schedules vary depending on the programmatic calendar. This position averages 25 hours a week with some weekends and evenings required.
Bachelor’s or associates degree in science, education, or museum studies preferred. Will consider candidates working towards degree completion. Ability to show great attention to detail, be reliable and organized, be able to communicate clearly, have the ability to multi-task, and be a team player. Excellent with school-aged children and a wide variety of audiences.
