Arts & Science Council Campaign Halfway to Goal with One Month To Go
The Arts & Science Council (ASC) Annual Fund Drive has reached 51 percent of its $8.3 million goal with one month remaining in the campaign, ASC President Scott Provancher announced today. ASC has raised about $4.2 million to date.
The total does not include some major employer campaigns, such as Bank of America and Duke Energy, that still are underway, Provancher noted. He said the Charlotte Chamber finished its campaign at more than 20 percent over goal.
“We are pleased to see how the community has responded to the campaign,” said Charles Bowman, Campaign Chair and Charlotte market president for Bank of America. “ASC supports more than 100 local arts, science and history organizations throughout the county that teach our children, broaden our perspectives and make our community a more vibrant place to live. We are truly appreciative of the contributors who recognize the importance of bringing cultural experiences to our children and the positive impact they have on the City of Charlotte.”
In setting the 2011 campaign goal, ASC announced a separate goal to raise $1 million, within the $8.3 million total, to help restore arts, science and history programs in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as well as to provide teacher training and development and curriculum-based arts programming. To date, the education campaign has raised more than $650,000, Provancher said, including a first-time gift of $10,000 from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of North Carolina. Coca Cola raised an extra $10,000 for the education campaign.
